Clinical trials evaluating prophylactic cell therapy in human subjects must adhere to strict regulatory guidelines and standards for safety, efficacy and ethical conduct. Long-term follow-up and monitoring are also necessary to assess the durability and effectiveness of allergy prevention strategies. Despite these challenges, the concept of harnessing major allergens for prophylactic cell therapy represents a promising paradigm shift in allergy prevention. By utilizing specialized cell subsets, such as regulatory T cells or tolerogenic dendritic cells, engineered to target major allergens, it is possible to orchestrate antigen-specific immune responses that mitigate allergic sensitization and promote immune tolerance.
